About me
Brontë Cook
As a journalist, I believe in using storytelling as a catalyst for social change. Through my work with audio-based storytelling, I aim to help project voices that are often unheard.
Currently a sophomore journalism student at Ithaca College, I am involved with a number of on-campus publications, including WICB News and Passion Project Online. I currently serve as the Production Director for WICB News, where I am responsible for producing bi-weekly feature packages and editing the work of other reporters.
Recently, I interned with local radio station WRFI where I produced bi-weekly feature packages and and wrote and broadcasted the evening news.
Throughout the last year and a half, I have helped lead a number of human-based feature series for the station. The series, found at wrfi.org, have focused around topics including food insecurity, affordable housing and mental health.
Last spring, I traveled with a handful of IC journalism students and professors to Memphis, Tennessee to cover the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination for NPR affiliate WKNO News. I interviewed activists, visitors and artists; this experience fully affirmed my passion for journalism and served as a reminder of the impact we can make.
One day, I would love to report full time for NPR (or an NPR affiliate) on intersectional issues including race and education.
